My Color Removing Technique

~How I Remove Color and Tone My Hair~

Baking Soda Vitamin C and Anti Dandruff Shampoo
Since I am not a professional hair stylist I don't use color remover mostly because it is expensive and also hard to get, but I still don't want to try to bleach out the colors in my hair because I wouldn't want to do it more than once since bleaching is really damaging to your hair. Now you've probably seen  people using this same treatment called Vitamin C color remover, I don't know who came up with it but it definitely was not me, I just wanted to show you what I do.

Before Removing Color and toning
What I use to remove color is Baking soda, Vitamin C, and Anti-Dandruff shampoo(or a clarifying shampoo).  For my hair I don't have to use much of each ingredient to cover all of my hair but these are the amounts in grams of each: Baking Soda 8g ,Vitamin C 10g, and 15g of Shampoo. After mixing this you'll notice that it begins to foam and double in size.

When you apply this you will want to have damp hair, I try to use warm-hot water to help open the hair cuticle making it easier to strip out the color.
Some people will massage this in their hair for 10 minutes but I will only do it for about 2 minutes and then leave it in for about an hour. Then about every 20 minutes in that hour I re-dampen my hair with a spray bottle with hot water and massage the hair.

                                          After Removing Color
I only did this process once and it barely took any color out but I will show this process again in the future with a different color, usually I will do this 3-5 times over the course of about 3 days.
If you do this more than one time before dyeing your hair I would recommend using a deep conditioning treatment because it dries out the hair, you will also want to do this if you are going to be bleaching your roots after.

Bleaching Hair
I always put coconut oil on my hair before bleaching to help protect it and after I apply the bleach I cover it with either a plastic bag or a shower cap, this time I had covered it with a plastic bag but I had the bag inside out and the bleach transferred the print of the bag onto my hair, (thankfully when it was all washed out there were no remains of the ink)  when my roots were almost done I spread the bleach down a bit to get  more color out and waited 5 minutes and washed it out.

White Conditioner, Manic Panic's Ultra Violet and Atomic Turquoise
Homemade Toner

When my hair is done bleaching sometimes I will use a toner to get yellow tones out of my hair, you can either buy a toner from Sally's Beauty Supply called Wella T-18 Lightest Ash Blonde or you can make your own with a purple hair dye and some white conditioner. If you want to make your own toner you will need to put a lot of white conditioner into a bowl and add tiny amounts of purple until you have a very light pastel purple color. My Ultra Violet had been mixed with other colors before this so it was more of a pink-purple color so I added in some Atomic Turquoise to make it a nice purple color. Then I apply it to the hair and let it sit for a while and then wash it out.

After Toning and Bleaching
This was my hair after toning and bleaching and it for some reason the camera made it look really yellow but it was actually a very pale blonde color. If you have any questions or comments feel free to ask! Thanks for reading!
